And I didn't even get into the parts where deadlines get misesd, checks get withheld, the house runs late because they decided to combine a payment yeah, it's not for the faint of heart, this job. The money is just there to keep you angsty!

Yep, it's best to focus on the things that are gaeauntred. You can definitely write a book. Other than that, it's all up in the air. Even if you get published, you might not be in Borders or B&N. Chances are, you won't be JK Rowling. I mean, there are 5 authors we name every time, because those are the only ones doing it up big like that. But writing a book? You're gaeauntred to have a book when you're done. I totally recommend loving THAT part of it.
